Canadian Idol Recap

The Final 5 performed songs from artists who have inspired them. Kelly Clarkson gave the Idols feedback during their practice sessions and she will be performing during the results show.

01. Matt Rapley sang Higher Ground by Stevie Wonder.
The vocals were pretty good actually and finally he did better with getting into the song and interacting with the audience. He showed intensity and didn't do the goofy smile he usually does while singing. Good Job.
The Judges said that they were glad he did contemporary version of the song, he looked fierce, fine job, intense, heart and soul shined through.

02. Dwight D'eon sang Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi.
I felt there were moments where he was too pitchy especially when he hit the higher notes. I do like when he did some of the gravel voice parts. But I was disappointed with his overall performace.
The Judges said it was their fav performance of his, really good, best thing he'd done so far, in tune, good as he can sing but not good enough to win the competition, beginning was shaky but overall good, very powerful.

03. Jaydee Bixby sang I Can't Stop Loving You by Elvis.
I felt that it was just a very good impersonation of Elvis. Even down to the dance moves he tried to do and the scarf thing. He sings really nicely but I am not sure how successful he would be as a recording artists. I feel like he belongs on broadway in a play about Elvis or at an theme park.
The Judges said it was a kick ass job, impressed, dancing not good, sings like Elvis maybe should move to Vegas, fantastic, one was impressed that he has stayed true to himself and has never wavered with the style he likes, intense, good job.

04. Carly Rae Jepsen sang Chuck E's in Love by Rickie Lee Jones.
I felt that she is a good performer. She uses the stage, she interacts with the audience and she gets into the whatever song she is singing. However, I have a hard time with her voice. I just don't like it at all. It is really hard for me not to change the channel when she starts singing.
The Judges said lovable and memorable, Impressed, really good job, use of stage is great, she is a professional, really lovely.

05. Brian Melo sang Karma Police by Radiohead
I loved it. His tone was great. I love his rasp. I love that he is so intense. He is another great performer. He just looks like a rock star when he is up there on stage. This was in my opinion the best performance of the night hands down.
The Judges said it was a magic moment, made us proud, insane, mesmorizing, possibly the next Canadian Idol, good job.

Overall everyone did a good job. There is one stand out for me and that is Brian Melo. I think he deserves to win.
This week my pic for who should be sent home is once again Jaydee Bixby. Zach said it and I totally agree. Jaydee should hope to be eliminated so he can go and start doing his own thing. I really don't believe Jaydee can be that successful as a recording artist. That is just my opinion though. Canada obviously feels differently because he hasn't been in the bottom 3 very often.
