Top 2 Final Performance show on Canadian Idol.
Jaydee Bixby and Brian Melo performed for our votes for the final time this season last night. They sang 3 songs each and were mentored this week by Bon Jovi. The first song they each sang was a Bon Jovi hit, the second song was the song the winner will release as their debut single and the final song was a song of their own choosing.
Jaydee Bixby's first song was Who Says You Can't Go Home.
It sounded a bit shaky in the beginning to me. I really didn't like this performance at all. He didn't get into the song he was just kinda there on stage singing with no pizazz. I found it all a bit boring.
The Judges said he sang well but that he didn't make it believable, said that he did what he does well but didn't exude enough energy but at least he sang in tune.
Jaydee's second some was the single to be released by the winner: All I Ever Wanted.
Again the beginning was very blah and monotone to me. His eyes do not show that he connects with the song he is singing and it doesn't make me want to keep listening to him. I think he is so young that he needs more life experience in order to get into the emotions of the songs he is singing. I really think at this point he is handing the competition to Brian on a silver platter.
The Judges said that he should have made it more his style. They felt he is cracking under the pressure. Some of the judges actually praised him saying it had weak spots but he made it believable, told him he did a good job.
Jaydee picked Tom Joneses It's Not Unusual as his final song of the night.
I was very disappointed to say the least. He turned it into a Tom Jones impersonation. At this stage of the game I do not want an impersonation. I want to see who Jaydee is. I want him to be himself while singing a song. This whole impersonation thing for me anyways is tired out.
The Judges said was entertaining but lacked swagger, they thought it was really cool and that he did a good job. Zach said that wasn't his taste but that if he could choose one of idols to manage he would choose Jaydee.
Brian Melo's first song was This Ain't a Love Song.
I felt it was very emotional and he really got into the song. I really liked his interpretation of the song. He did an awesome job.
The Judges said that it was powerful, emotional and heartfelt. Farley said that it was Melo-dramatic in the best way possible, he sang from the heart, they gave round one to Brian saying Brian 1 Jaydee 0.
Brian's second song was the Idol winner debut single, All I Ever Wanted.
I felt Brian performed this much much better than Jaydee. It suited his voice better. He really felt the emotions behind the song and portrayed it to the audience. His vocals were great. Another great job.
The Judges said he knocked it out of the park. They say it sounded like he had written it himself, it gave them chills. They said he owned it.
Brian choose Hallelujah by KD Lang for his final song of the night.
I felt it was a beautiful ,soulful, heartfelt performance. It was nice to see his softer, slower side. I really feel he is the clear winner not only from these 3 performances but from the past several weeks. He has proven himself time and time again.
The Judges felt that it was a fantastic song choice and he did a fantastic job. It was touching and Zach told him that he was going to have a career no matter what. Jake told him that he has grace and humility. They told Brian that his 3 performances tonight were as good as any they had ever had on the show. They also said that the competition is about singing and Brian gave some great singing tonight.
For my money Brian Melo is my Idol hands down. He deserves to win and if he doesn't I am going to assume all the voters were drunk or stoned. Jaydee is a great guy and with a little more life experience I think he could be a great country music singer. But in this competition Brian has out sung, out performed and way out shined Jaydee consistently week after week.
