Kid Nation - Deal With It Taylor

So from the previews we know there will be an elections for new Town Council Officers. And we are led to believe that Taylor, our little Miss Beauty Queen, will be tossed out on her crown.....if she isn't these kids are not as smart and I want to give them credit for.

The show begins of course with yellow team member, Zach, having to try to get Taylor and her court our of bed and int he kitchen doing the cooking. Remember last week during the showdown, the yellow team became the cooks. Of course Taylor again renigs on her promise to do more work and instead opts to stay in bed. And of course her royal court follow their leader. So Zach scurries off to do the work of several.
Over in the blue team girls bunkhouse, we see team leader Anjay trying to rouse up his gang of girls and of course they are being resistant. Olivia leads the charge here and makes the comment that nobody listens to Anjay. Well of course they don't!

Time for the town council members to head to the chapel to read the journal that was left behind from the 1800's to guide them in what they need to do.....***rolls eyes again****

This time the book of great wisdom tells them that people in power can not always remain in power and they must hold elections for town council. Of course the 4 current council members feel the need to express this to the rest of the town, but only after a food fight in the mess hall. Poor Anjay was just atanding there and ended up with egg on his face. And for some reason Olivia scolded him when he decided to start throwing food. Sorry Olivia, I got news for you, if someone throws food at me and hits me in the face you better believe I am throwing back.
It is at this time the council tells them that there will council elections and anyone can run. Ok, I have to say, if I was on this council and I was in fear of losing my postion (Hello Taylor, Anjay and Mike) I would have never said anything, torn that page out of the great wisdom journal and told the rest of the town there was nothing to report from the journal. Of course these kids have too much honesty in them.

Laurel is the only town council member who is not in jeopardy of losing her position. After a green team meeting, everyone decided that Laurel was to remain in power and no one would run against her. Wise move Green Team!
So now comes the election speeches and the time to find out who will be opposing Taylor, Mike and Anjay.
First up is Mike and he tells the Town he thinks the person who deserves to be a Council leader is the person who is best at making decisions that are right for the town. True....

His opposition is Guylan......Guylan holds nothing against Mike as a leader, he just thinks it's time for a change. This excites everyone as they all start screaming and clapping.
Next is Anjay with his speech of promises that he will work harder for the town. Sounds like a typical politicians speech....lol

Of course Olivia is opposing him....she confidently announces that she has worked hard in all her jobs and will work even harder as Council leader.

Taylor comes next, and I have to so no matter what she promises, I promise she will be overthrown. Taylor admits to being lazy in the past but asks for another chance. Zach mocks Taylor’s “Deal with it!” catchphrase and causes the Town to cheer loudly for him.
Showdown time and of course it is centered around politics. They have to hit red/white/blue elephant and donkey pinatas and bust them open looking for a "trading card" with a president's picture on it. They must collect 7 pictures and give them to their team leader who has to put them in order from oldest to most current in regards to when they served as presidents.

Only Mike and Anjay seem confidant in this task. Taylor is dead in the water because she tells everyone she knows nothing about presidents.

So off they go to crack open the pinatas. Thanks to Zach knowing the order of the president's, he is able to help Taylor and the yellow team to a first place victory which makes them the upper class for the next week.

The Green Team finally get's out of the laborers position and comes in second to become the merchants. Red Team is next as the cooks and the Blue Team brings up the rear and will be the new laborers. The good news is that they completed the task in the alloted time and will win a reward. What will they choose: a HUGE bbq complete with tons of hamburgers, hotdogs and other meats (something they have not hard in a looooong time) or dental hygiene equipment (toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash). To me with elections coming up this is a slam dunk...take the food, make the town happy...it might help you keep your job if you make the town full and happy. But alas....no......seems little Miss Taylor wants the dental hygiene. Laurel would have gone either way although I think she was leaning more towards the dental hygiene. Mike and Anjay clearly wanted the food.

I have to say, good call for Laurel, Mike and Anjay to let Taylor deliver the bad news to the town that they had choosen the dental hygiene over the food. She will utlimately be the one they blame.
The next day, the Kids gear up for their imminent elections. As Zach goes to get paid by Taylor he wishes her good luck. She responds by telling him that she is going to win. Taylor is confident in this because she thinks she has all five Yellow girls on her side. Knowing this, Zach starts to campaign specifically to the girls of the Yellow District. Taylor better learn humility soon, that's for sure.

As Mike hangs out in the Saloon with members of the Green District to avoid campaigning, Guylan is in the kitchen picking Red District members’ brains as to whom they are going to vote. Olivia works hard to convince the boys of the Blue District, including Greg, of her leadership skills, while Anjay chops vegetables in the kitchen requesting not to speak about Olivia while he has a sharp object in his hand.

Taylor, Zach and Guylan make posters covered with their own political slogans. Taylor’s posters says, “Deal with it!” And just like in the real world, politics quickly turn ugly. Markelle, who doesn’t think Taylor is good for the Town, rips down one of Taylor’s campaign posters and stomps on it with his pogo stick.

But it’s Leila, not Taylor, who is upset by Markelle’s actions, because she made the poster he ripped up. Leila confronts Markelle, but he defends his behavior, insisting that Taylor’s poor work ethic is bad for the entire town not just the Yellow District. Leila runs inside her bunkhouse and dissolves into tears. Greg acts like a big brother and cheers her up, convincing Leila to not let the dirty politicking get her down.

Before the next Town Hall meeting, the Council discusses who should get the next Gold Star. The Council takes note of Greg’s continued hard work and improvement in attitude. Laurel also mentions Zach as a possible recipient since he always tries to do his best and is easy to get along with.
It's Town Hall meetin time and first up is the award of the Gold Star. Greag finally get's his star and $20,000, plus a phone call home. He opts to wait on the phone call so he can participate in the election. Only the Red, Yellow and Blue teams have to vote because the Green Team has decided to let Laurel remain as their leader. So after everyone votes we find that Anjay gets to keep his seat on the council....Olivia loses that one.
Mike on the other hand loses his seat to Guylan and handles defeat with dignity and tells Guylan good job.
Next up is the reading of the yellow team votes and even though they tried to make this dramtic you just knew the yellow team was smart enough to unseat Taylor and Zach becomes the yellow teams new leader. But it was a close vote as Zach only wins by one. One of Taylor's royal court members turned on her.....lol

The show ends with Greg getting to call home and tell his mom he has won $20,000 which he wants to save and use for college.....good call Greg.
Until next week when we get to find out what the lovely old journal tells the kids to do.......
