Dancing W/The Stars - Let's Get Ready To Rhumba

So tonight is Latin night with the Rhumba and Samba as the two dance choices. This is the night Tom Bergeron said there would be next to nothing as far as the costumes go and if you ever want to see a wardrobe malfunction tonight would be the night. So far, the costumes don't look too revealing, with the exception of Kym and Edyta. But with Edyta it's expected that she will show lots of skin. And with that body.....I don't blame her for showing it. I would!

First up is Marie and John with a Samba, a dance Marie is hoping will earn her 10's. Her costume was hideaous for her age and size. The music was too slow and unfortunatley her dance was sluggish. During Len's commenting on her dance, Marie takes a nose dive and hits the flow. She fainted and we cut to commercial. Upon return Tom tells us Marie is ok and in fact the first words out of her mouth when she woke up were "Oh Crap".......We don't get the benefit of the judges critic but her scores pretty much tell the story of what they would have said. She gets 7's across the board. I think she is more upset with fainting than she is with the scores.

Jane and Tony are next with our first Rhumba. This dance will be a good one for actors and actresses because they shoudl know how to play sexual. And she does. Her and Tony dance great. She is sexual without be trampy....still classy. She gets two 9's and an 8 for a total of 26.

Our first male of the night is Mark Cuban with his partner Kym Johnson doing the Samba. We get to see during their practice footage that Mark is more concerned with pleasing the fans than he is the judges and is able to convince Kym to put more cheese in their routine. I love Mark. He is taking this serious to a point. He is working hard to try to get the technical but still knows that the entertainment factor for the fans is important. Unfortunately for me, his dance was stiff and flat, although Mark managed to m ake it entertaining, it still wasn't that great.
Mark got 7's across the board.

Sabrina and Mark are next with a Rhumba. Sabrina got all tens last week and will now have a touhg road to travel for the rest of the time she is in the competition. I don't think she can get tens for the remainder of her time. That perfect score may come back to haunt her. During their practice footage, Mark's mom, Sally Ballas, comes in to give them tips on being sexual with each other. Can we say AWKWARD! Poor Sabrina....I would have been soooooooo embarrased. Their rhumba was great. Carrie Ann said she needed to work on her turns and Len didn't like all the tricks. She gets 2 9's and a 10 from Bruno for a 28.

Derek and Jennie get the Samba and Jennie looks to be wearing a Monique Coleman costume with an addition of a tail. The dress was pretty, but the tail needed to go. I thought their Samba was good, but apparently Carrie Ann and Bruno did not see anything special. Len however said they were wrong and it was better than they thought. Scores of 2 8's and a 9 give her a 25.

Our next Rhumba is Helio and Julianne. I would have thought this to be a great dance for our Latin racecar driver. But I was wrong. Helio was stiff and as the judges said, he was too mechanical. Two 8's and a 7 give him a 23.
Maks and Mel are next with a Samba. I could watch Maks all day....leave Mel in the back. Practice footage shows that Mel is fighting a cold and add to that they have to travel to London so she can shoot a video with the Spice Girls. Not much footage is shown fo the Spice Girls. They have a good Samba much to my disappointment. I'm sorry, I want Mel gone. Remember, I don't like her. She gets 2 10's and a 9 for a score of 29, the highest of the night.

Cameron and Edyta finish the night with a Rhumba. Again this should be somewhat easy what with Cameron being a day time soap actor and having bedroom eyes. Susan Lucci comes by practice to offer her two cents worth. I thought they did a very good routine, but unfortunately Carrie Ann again chastises them for a lift. There was no lift. I did not see Edyta's foot come off the floor, but if it did it could only have been for a split second. Two 9's and a 8 by Carrie Ann for a 26.

So tonight was a little bit of a let down for me. I expected more. Unfortunately Marie Osmond and Mark Cuban are in the bottom two as fare as judges scores. But as we saw last week, even those on top can fall. Anyone could go home.......

until tomorrow when we get to be entertained by the great J.Lo.........
