It's Race Time!!!!!!!!!
Yep, that's right! It's race time and by that I mean, it's time for the return of The amazing Race. CBS announces that Amazing Race will begin on November 4th......
The Amazing Race 12 will replace Viva Laughlin, a new musical drama the network has canceled after just one poorly-rated broadcast in its regularly scheduled Sundays at 8PM ET/PT time period. CBS will air a repeat broadcast of CSI in the time period on October 28. "If there ever was a season that I consider one of the best, it's this one," said Bertram van Munster, The Amazing Race's executive producer and co-creator. "It's insanely funny, fast-paced and dramatic all at once. Teams are in hot pursuit of one another at every location and it's reality television at its nail-biting best."
CBS had renewed The Amazing Race for a twelfth edition in May, but announced the five-time Emmy-Award winning reality competition series wouldn't be part of its initial 2007-2008 primetime programming lineup and would instead air as midseason programming. This fall marked the first time in three years that The Amazing Race did not premiere as part of the network's initial fall schedule launch. The Amazing Race executive producer Jonathan Littman told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that the show's twelfth edition will run two episodes shorter and drop the course's non-elimination Pit Stops in an effort to "create more excitement." Non-elimination Pit Stops had been part of The Amazing Race since the reality competition series first premiered in Fall 2001.
Despite the format changes and initial delay in its premiere, Littman still sounded excited about the show's twelfth installment. "The countries are very exotic," Littman told reporters at the time. "We're going to a couple of places that I don't even know where they are on the map. I've had to go look them up... This is a tough group [of teams]. They'll be younger. We still have a good balance." According to CBS, the teams competing on The Amazing Race 12 -- which the network expects to unveil sometime in the next several days -- will travel approximately 50,000 miles during the competition. Five previously unvisited countries will be part of the twelfth edition, including Ireland, Lithuania and Croatia.
