Kid Nation - Deal With It

Well tonights episode looked like it was going to center around our little pagent queen, Taylor. Seems Miss. Taylor thinks she can do no wrong while doing nothing. But what she fails to see, is that by doing nothing she is alienating the whole town.

The council gets advice from the trusty journal that we are supposed to believe was written by the original inhabitants of Bonanza City. Sorry, hard for me to believe that in the 1800's they had pretty paper, photo corners (scrapbooking term) and knew exactly what obstacles the kids would be facing at that exact time. Come on producers, make it a little more believable.

(see the pretty photo corners.....so not 1885)
So the words of wisdom the council gets today is to instill some law and order. Probably a good thing, since the night before the kids were up pretty late partying in the saloon. You know some of these kids looked a little too comfortable slinging back the shot glasses of root beer and creme soda. I mean what kid knows to drop a shot glass into to beer mug? That's what they were doing. Anyway, they stayed up a little late that night, er morning and everyone was waking up with a big head.....but not a hangover, just really really tired.
So the council decides that 9:30 is bedtime in Bonanza from now on. At breakfast or brunch as Taylor put it, the council informed the others of the curfew. Some were ok with it,and others were not. I tell you what I would not have been ok with, that lame ass breakfast/brunch that Taylor and her bunch came up with. A handful of hash brown potatos. Time to fire the cooks! And here comes the time.....Showdown time.
(kids and boilermakers?????)
This weeks showdown has the prioneers chasing sheep. Each team must find a sheep that has a playing card on it. The card must be an ace of their color (red, blue, yelloe and green). The first team to find 3 aces wins and will be the Upper Class....second is the Merchants....third are the Cooks and last but not least is the Laborers. And of course if they finish in a certain time frame they can will a luxery prize for the entire town. Looks like the yellow team and blue team will be fighting for first as they start out fo the gate very fast getting 2 aces before the yellow and green get one. Cody, a little 9 year old is the savior for the yellow team in finding their final ace, which makes them the Upper Class. (I guess now Taylor will really get to do nothing) Second place, the Merchants, goes to blue. Third place is green so now there will be new cooks. Red team of course will be the laborers, but they have to hurry to finish in time for the reward. Of course they do with only a couple seconds to spare. So they win a reward for the town. Their choice this week is either a microwave and a barrell of cocoa or 40 hot pizzas.

The council gets to decide and after talking it over, they decide the smart thing to do is take the microwave and cocoa. Of course this upsets quit a few of the other kids and Taylor goes off screaming at everyone to shut up. She thens proceeds to tell everyone who is mad to "Deal With It". This will be her tag line for the remainder of her stay.

Back inside the town and the green team go to work on getting the kitchen back in order after Taylor and her Deal Wtih It Crew destroyed it. It looked like they had not washed a dish in two weeks. No wonder breakfast that morning was a handful of potatos....there were no clean dishes to eat off....lol

We get a bit on little Mallory, one of the youngest pioneers at just 8 years old. Seems Miss. Mallory is a very hard working 8-year old running the dry goods store. We also get a bit on Greg, one of the oldest at 15. Seems Greg went off earlier and shared a few four letter words while screaming at some of the, or most of the other kids. But all things aside, without Greg this town just may not be running. He is the strongest as was evident after the big wind storm that blew thru town and knocked over the outhouses. It was Greg who lead the team of boys to right the stinky messes. He works really hard and unfortunately his attitude is outshinning his hard work.
Finally it's town meeting time. Time to see if anyone wants to go home, who is mad at the council and who wins the Gold Star. First up is most of the town ganging up on Taylor. I felt bad for her, although she deserved most of it. Especially when she broke down into tears. But come on, here is not that place to be a beauty queen. After Taylor has a good cry and hears someone say it's time for a re-election, Taylor plays politics and says she will try to start helping out more. I will believe it when I see it.

Next is the time when the kids are asked if anyone wants to go home. Mallory and Cody are the only two that mentioned something about going home during the show, so one would think one of them woudl go, but alas all 39 kids stay for another day......

It's Gold Star time and the council has a tough decision. After getting everyone's input on who they think should win the star it comes down to Greg, Morgan or Mallory. I think the council made the wrong decision in giving the star to Mallory. Although she does always have a positive attitude, Greg or even Morgan worked 10 times harder than Mallory. But it was a nice birthday gift for the little 8 year old....oops make that 9 yr old now. She gets to call home and I have to say this is when my tears began. You could hear the homesickness in her voice, but you could see the strength in her eyes of wanting to stick it out.
So another episode ends and Greg still does not have his star. I hate to say this Greg, as long as Mike is on the council you will not get a star, especially since you and Mike had it out already. Until next week.............Deal With It!!!
