Survivor China Episode 4 - "Ride the workhorse til the tail falls off"
Or my own personal title "Dave is CRAZY. CRAZEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
It seems as though Jean Robert gets the spotlight again at show open, going on about how he likes to "start in last place". He's got an excuse for everything doesn't he? Courtney obviously hates him after his comments, but going on about how he was yelling at her when he wasn't isn't going to help her any. Get a grip, or you're going to lose.
Speaking of openings, I've always loved the opening montage to Survivor. Always great scenery, great editing, and a cool variation on the familiar theme.
Zhan-Hu's rice is moldy! Way to take care of your staple food supply guys, great job! Dave tries to tell them to put it in another container or clean that one, but Sherea not only disagrees but now snaps on Dave around camp. She's fed up, and she's not gonna take it anymore. At least Dave works, she needs to learn when to shut her mouth. Frosti pep talks Dave and tries to make him understand how people view him. Frosti seems like that guy who's going to be too helpful and lose the game because of it.
The tribes are told they are both going to tribal council, but its actually a challenge done at that location and not a vote. The reward? A fisherman and his family come to your camp and teach you all about fishing. "Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a lifetime, but teach a....wait..oh never mind.."
Challenge goes like this: The tribes use giant chop sticks (very giant) to carry three flaming balls over to a chute, it then rolls down into a wok and lights off some fireworks (love that they incorporated fireworks into this) Each time the chop sticks get longer, and tribe members must do this two at a time meaning they have to cooperate in order to move the balls. This actually looks really tough, as most of the challenges this season have been. I like that, because they were getting boring in previous seasons. First tribe to light all three fireworks wins. Courtney sits this one out.
Its clear at the beginning that you need to remain calm, working together on pressure like this is very difficult. Its fairly close as Feilong gets off its first ball and second with Zhan Hu close behind each time. The third one however, is very different indeed. Dave and Eric have tons of trouble, with Dave trying to do it one way and the tribe all screaming at them. Too little teamwork means Feilong wins the challenge, and the reward. Who do they kidnap? Why Dave of course!
Now folks, we get to see the truly Crazy Dave. The guy is a loon tossing out hugs, laughing way too much and being generally annoying to everyone. James tells him "I told you about the huggin' ". Dave gives his clue to Todd, and makes a deal to get one back from him if he gets kidnapped next time, which Dave plans to try and achieve. Like anyone would do what Dave wants! hahahaha Back at Zhan Hu, they discuss how Dave seemed too happy being kidnapped (he's crazy!) and then realize they have allot of work to do around camp with Dave missing. Of course, Sherea does nothing. She needs to "conserve" for challenges and doesn't care what anyone thinks. Sounds like an attitude to be sent home.
The fisherman and his family arrive at Feilong, and it turns out Jean Robert speaks a little Mandarin and can translate for the rest of them. "They have children's" James says, and they are cute too! Jean Robert is good with them, and this honestly made me start to like him a little.
James says Jean Robert was on his high horse, but I disagree, he just wanted to help his tribe understand what to do. They taught them to fish, clean and cook and I see this being a big advantage if they can keep it up. BUT, oh dear lord, Denise. Denise, Denise Denise. The woman is perpetuating the stereotype of lunch ladies everywhere, I almost feel bad because she doesn't realize. "Lunch ladies are not an expert on food" she goes on to say, talking about chicken nuggets, but this stuff she says was the "delekiast thing". .............. That's not a misspelling, that's me trying to spell it from what came out of her mouth. Trying to say something to the tune of "the most delectable thing, or "the most delicate thing" I assume? Oh Denise.
On to the immunity challenge! Jeff tells them that for their own protection, they will be wearing traditional Chinese armor. I like it already. Squaring off in the gladiator arena, tribe members go two on two with meteor hammers, and try to break the vases of the opposing tribe. The opposing tribe can block with poles. If you don't know what meteor hammers are, there's a pic along with this review of one of them tossing it. Three throws per round, most vases wins. Jean Robert sits out? I a hugely physical challenge?? Awesome, we get the corny slow mo on the meteor hammers if they break a vase! hahahaha
Feilong gets two, as Jeff says we should see "more velocity from the guys". James gets a third as well, thrown so hard Zhan Hu doesn't even attempt to block. Jamie hit two for Zhan hu at once! A great shot. In the end, Feilong ends up winning immunity and sending Zhan Hu to tribal again. Zhan Hu really looks down and utterly defeated.
Dave tells tribe mates he feels strange vibes, and when they talk amongst themselves it will be between Sherea and Dave. Sherea realizes she may go home. Eric gives his comments and I sit and wonder where he was before this show, as I really didn't notice him a whole lot. Oh well.
I love the look of tribal council. Probably mentioned it before, but really they've outdone themselves this season with the sets. There was even a shot of a snake crawling on the statue! Jeff talks about Dave's work ethic as the tribe says they had to pick up the slack while he was away, and Eric really defends Dave. Awww, they bestest friends. Sherea is rolling her eyes. She says she's stepping it up more and Jeff asks "from what to what?" He gets no real answer to the question just allot of double talk. Allot of talk as to what is more important, camp participation or challenge participation. Peigh-Gee seems to think its a mixture and I tend to agree, although I love Jeff pressing her for an answer one way or another. Sherea is really running her mouth, why is it that people are so stupid at tribal this year? I thought she was much quieter before this show.
In the end, Dave's crazy is too much for the tribe and they send him packing. Guess they've got allot of work to do! Poor Eric is so bummed! hahahaha
