Dancing W/Stars Episode 4 - Samantha's Return
Well it's Monday night again and our favorite (or at least mine) dancing show is back and so is Samantha Harris. She returns aftr giving birth to a baby girl just 3 weeks ago. I have to say I wish she would have stayed gone a little longer as I was enjoying Drew as the co-host. At least with Drew we got some comedy and laughs, but with Samantha, nothing, except an eyeful of new mommie boobs and her usual screwups of her lines. I sure hope the wardrobe department had industrial strength straps on her very lowcut dress, because she was promoting those new mommie boobs to the hilt. Enough about Samantha......Tonight's dances will be either the Viennese Waltz or the Pasa Doble.
First up is Mark and Kym and I have to say that dress does nothing for Kym's ass. It looks HUGE! You know I have to say when I heard Mark Cuban would be on the show, I thought ok here comes another arrogant billionaire who thinks because he is rich deserves to be here. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Mark is one of my favorite dancers. And I think it is because of two things....his work ethic and his ability to entertain me. During the practice footage we get a glimpse at just how much work ethic Mark Cuban has. He is a work-a-holic. Carrie Ann told him last week to feel the music so Kym has him practice some without his written notes and with his eyes closed. That must have helped because their dance was great. His posture and frame were excellent and he danced across the floor so smooth. You can see his improvement week after week. I thought his scores of 7, 8, 7 were a little low. I was looking for straight 8's.
Sabrina and Mark are next with a Pasa Doble. This dance would require Sabrina to be serious, something she really hasn't had to do yet and something that would prove to be a challenge for her as we see during the practice footage her continued sillyness. But she comes out and rocks it like a pro. She had that fierceness that is needed for this dance and she managed to stay serious the entire dance. Sabrina and Mark get the first perfect score of 3 ten's tonight! Go Cheetah!!!
Up next is our lovely English Rose, Jane with her partner Tony dancing the waltz. I knew this would be a lovely elegant dance because Jane has that class thing down pat. Their practice footage showed us that Jane is a really good painter.....my daughter was impressed! During their practice both Jane and Tony "dance painted". Sorry, that is the only thing I could think to call it. They stepped in paint with their barefeet and danced on a big canvas creating a really unique picture. But when it came to the floor there was nothing unique about their waltz. It was classy, simple and beautiful. Carrie Ann showed that she was going to be bitchy tonight when she tried to call them on a lift, but Jane's feet were clearly still grazing the floor. Their scores tonight were 8, 9, 9......clearly a point off from what was undeserved.
Floyd and Karina are next with what should have been Floyd's easiest dance, the Pasa Doble. I say this because the pasa is about a bull fighter and with Floyd being so agressive on the dance floow, I thought the dance would fit him. But, IMO, it was awlful. I did not like it at all. But apparently I must not know what I am talking about because the judges loved it. Carrie Ann scolds for a "lift" which in this case, I did see Karina's feet off the ground...not much but a little. He gets 7, 8, 8 which seem high to me. All 7's would have been more appropriate.
Mel and Maks are next with a waltz and for me Mel B does nothing. I do not like her and don't really know why. Could it be the British thing? Probably not, because I love Jane. Could it be the Eddie Murphy thing? Maybe. Could it be that I just get this "I am better than you" attitude from her. That's probably it. Or maybe a combination of all 3. I don't know, but I did not like her watlz this week. I did however like Maks waltz....lol Scores of 8, 9, 9.
Cameron and Edyta are up next with a pasa doble that from their practice session would appear to be a flop. The music they have is the theme from Superman? Who picks this music? Edyta has a hard time creating the choreography for the dance and it looks like they will have a hard go of it. But alas lots of hard work and they pull out a spectacular pasa. Cameron comes out with a Superman log on his shirt but the "S" is replaced with a "C" and they rock it. This was a good dance for Cameron. Of course Carrie Ann brings up the fact they did a lift. But as Cameron told her, what they did is definitley something that Edyta could do on her own. (Let me explain, Carrie Ann said the definition of a lift is if the partners feet came off the ground and it was not something they could do on their own). I have to agree. I could see Edyta doing that move completely on her own. Cameron was there for support only. They got scores of 9, 9, 9 deservedly so.
Our next waltz is by Marie and John. John sends Marie to ballet class so she can learn to lift from her core, as Len suggested. Their waltz was elegant and apparently the ballet classes helped Marie. She stood tall. Funny thing is that they performed the exact same move that Tony and Jane got called by Carrie Ann as being a lift, but Carrie Ann said nothing to Marie and John. Could be her feet were clearly still on the floor.....but then again so was Jane's. Two 9' and One 8.
Jennie and Derek get the pasa tonight. During the practice session we get a gimpse into Jennie's home life with her husband and kids. She really has a great family and husband. They are all pulling together to give her the support she needs. I have to say, I think Jennie's fall two weeks ago helped her. It not only gave her humility but it filled her with determination. She rocked her pasa. So much passion in this dance. Of course Carrie Ann complains about another lift and again, I did not see it. For the first time, I think ever, all three judges scored her differently. 8, 10, 9......I like that she got the one 10, but I think Carrie was wrong in giving her an 8.
Our last couple is Helio and Julianne with the final dance of a waltz. This should be easy for Helio, what with his magnetic smile. We see during their practice session that Helio needs to learn who the teacher is and why he should trust Julianne in her teaching methods. Their waltz was classy and flowing and although there was a questionable move that could have been mistaken for a lift, Carrie Ann left it alone because she apparently finally saw that a foot was still on the floor. Three 9's for our race car driver put him back in the top 3.
Were done for another Monday and my only complaint is with Carrie Ann. You can tell she has favorites but come on Carrie....enough with the bogus lift accusations. Get some glasses girl!
Until tomorrow night's elimination........
